This is Derek Prince with a word for you from the Word.
“To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd.” (Psalm 18:25–26 NIV)
There’s a deep, abiding principle there – that the way we deal with God is the way that God, in turn, will deal with us. If we are faithful to Him, He will be more than faithful to us. I want to say that I’ve proved that in my many years of my walk with God. God is faithful. He rewards the smallest act of faithfulness. He never passes by one single thing that we do in sincere faith and obedience.
To the faithful God shows Himself faithful. To the blameless God shows Himself blameless. If we are pure and upright in our walk with Him, then He will be the same to us. If we are pure, He will be pure towards us – far purer than we can ever be. But it’s the way we relate to Him that determines the way He relates to us.
But then there’s that final word of warning: “To the crooked you show yourself shrewd.” You know, I’ve met some people who thought that they could deceive God. Who thought that they could somehow pull the wool over God’s eyes and get away with it. They were so taken up with their own shrewdness and their own smartness, but I just want to warn you, God is much shrewder than you are. So beware. Don’t try to outwit God because it can’t be done.
