Mission and Impact
Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a Southeast Asian nation of 57.5 million people, with more than 130 religious and ethnic groups. Bordering India, Bangladesh, China, Laos, and Thailand, the predominant religion is Buddhism at just under 88%, with Christians making up 6.2% and Muslims 4.3%.
Buddhist nationalists have long persecuted Christians here, a situation that worsened after the military overthrew the democratically elected government in February 2021. Pastors have been killed by the military, churches cannot conduct services, and around 2.5 million people have fled to the jungle and settled in refugee camps. Approximately 76% of Myanmar’s population live below or close to the poverty line, and pastors desperately need access to sound Bible teaching.
Through working with a partner organization, Derek Prince Ministries operates at the forefront of Christian discipleship. Through outreaches and seminars, we support and resource believers to reach spiritual maturity. Pastors and church leaders in remote areas are being taught the Word of God through Derek’s material, bringing much-needed understanding and enabling them to teach believers more effectively.
