Day 123: Evaluating the Miraculous

When we’re confronted with something that may be supernatural, that may be a very powerful sounding presentation, we have to ask ourselves what is it doing in me? Does it bring my life into submission to the requirements of God? Does it make me a better servant of the Lord, a better servant of my fellow human beings? Is it producing in me love for God and love for my fellow man which are the real objectives of the true Christian faith. If not, even though there’s much that’s miraculous, the evidence is that it’s not really the work of God or of the Holy Spirit, because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of holiness. Wherever He is at work and allowed to have His way, the result will be increasing holiness in our lives.
