In order to achieve true security you have to see the limits of any other kind of security. You have to see that no security that man achieves by his own efforts, or his own wisdom can be permanent. It’s all like man’s own nature. It’s grass, it grows up, it’s vivid, it’s green, it’s beautiful with its flowers, but it’s very impermanent. Just when it reaches its climax of beauty it begins to wither. God has permitted that. He uses it as a demonstration to turn our hearts away from the impermanent to the permanent, from that which it temporary to that which endures. And that turns us to God, to His word and to the wisdom of God that speaks to us out of His word and offers us a different kind of security.
