Day 16: It is yours: complete wholeness in Jesus

Physical healing is part of God’s plan to bless you. This becomes clear from Deuteronomy 28, where God lists both the curses and blessings He will bring on His people that listen to His voice.

The sad truth is that none of us has always listened and obeyed God’s voice, but when Jesus died on the cross on our behalf, He took upon Himself the curse that we were due, so that we could receive God’s blessing.

Furthermore, according to .Isaiah 53:4-5, Jesus also “took upon Him our infirmities and carried away our diseases”. In His Gospel, Matthew, had no doubt that the person referred to in Isaiah 53, was Jesus.

Notice what Jesus says in John 7:23, answering His critics for healing a man on the Sabbath. He says:

“If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath that the Law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with Me because I made an entire man well on the Sabbath?” (NAS)

Notice, Jesus makes the entire man well. Every area of human being and human personality can be healed through Jesus.

This is what Peter said after the healing of the lame man at the Beautiful Gate in Acts 3:16 to explain his healing:

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.” (NIV)

The result is complete healing. Jesus said, "I have made an entire man well..." That's the physical outworking of the redemption provided for us by Jesus.

I am grateful for the work of physicians, psychiatrists and others, but there is only one person in the universe who can say, "I make an entire man well! I can deal with all his problems: spiritual, mental, emotional, physical" - and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let me close today with a beautiful verse from Hebrews 13:8:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.” (NAS)

As we contact Jesus by faith on the basis of His redemption, the same results that took place and are recorded in the New Testament are available to you and me today through faith in Jesus.

Prayer Response

Dear Lord Jesus, thank You that You are the same yesterday, when You were walking this earth and healing the sick and casting out demons, today, and forever. Thank You that Your work is eternal, thank You that I can trust You, and build upon the work You have done at the Cross. Thank You for the wonderful inheritance You have made available. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
