God promises to protect and love His people, granting them peace, rest, and righteousness. Let us pray for lasting peace over Jerusalem, recognizing the significance of this holy nation.
Proclamation
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.1
The Lord says: “Whoever touches my people, touches the apple of my eye.”2
Rest and peace will be Israel’s part, righteousness will be her foundation. Tyranny will be far from her; she will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed, it will not come near her. If anyone does attack her, it will not be God’s doing; Whoever attacks her, will surrender to her.3
The King of Israel, the Lord is within your walls, never again will you fear any harm. He will take great delight in you; He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.4
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne and over His kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever.5
Peace be upon Israel.6
