The Derek Prince Ministries-Cambodia team recently made a trip to the Svay Rieng province, nestled in the southeastern corner of Cambodia. The province juts into Vietnam and although it is one of Cambodia’s poorest and “sleepiest” provinces, it has one of the country’s busiest highways running through, which links Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
This first trip to Svay Rieng province marks a significant step forward in expanding the reach of DPM’s ministry in Cambodia. The local church extended a heartfelt welcome to the team; their hearts were filled with anticipation and eagerness to learn more about the transformative teachings of Derek Prince and then to share what they learnt with others.
Thirty-seven pastors attended the seminar, with the focus on Derek’s teaching from The Divine Exchange, Fatherhood, What's So Important About the Cross and Praying for the Government.
Steadfast faith and resilience - Pastor Savouen
Pastor Savouen's (picture) journey to faith was shaped by both tragedy and personal transformation. His uncle, a pastor who was dedicated to spreading the gospel, was shot and killed while sharing his message in their village. This event profoundly impacted young Savouen, who initially resisted his uncle's teachings.
Despite his initial resistance, the words of Pastor Savouen's uncle lingered in his mind, particularly a Bible verse that spoke of Jesus offering rest to those who were burdened. As he toiled under the scorching sun while working on his family's farm, his tools broke, leaving him unable to continue. Recalling his uncle's words, he decided to turn to Jesus for comfort and guidance.
This decision marked a turning point in Pastor Savouen's life. He embraced Christianity and followed in his uncle's footsteps, becoming the second pastor in Svay Rieng Province.
Despite facing intense persecution and witnessing first-hand the violence that claimed his uncle's life, Pastor Savouen has remained steadfast in his faith.
He knows that his life is in God's hands, and he has continued to spread the gospel with unwavering courage.
He draws strength from his uncle's legacy and the conviction that Jesus' message of hope and salvation is worth sharing, even in the face of adversity.
Pastor Savouen's story is a testament to the power of faith and resilience. His unwavering commitment to his beliefs, even in the face of persecution and tragedy, inspires all who seek to live a life of purpose and meaning.
The team’s mission to Svay Rieng province proved to be very fruitful, planting the seeds of spiritual growth and transformation within the hearts of many. The local church, empowered by Derek Prince's teachings, are now prepared to bring the enduring message of love, hope and salvation to many others in their community.
